The Parish of Wellington South, also known as St Cuthbert’s Church, is situated at 23 Luxford Street in Berhampore. Our main weekly service is on Sunday at 10am. Two other denominations, The Ethiopian Orthodox and The Congregation Church of Jesus in Samoa, also use the church facilities on a Sunday.

We are a community-centric church, with three staff members who work part time in the Berhampore and Newtown community. Richard Noble, our Deacon Assistant, is also known as the Community Minister and spends his time helping people and social agencies in Newtown. Manu Ward works with children, and offers time and support to Berhampore School and Newtown Park Flats in their work with children. Katherine Waimotu, also a children’s worker, helps lead a Playgroup in the church hall every Friday morning.

Each week we offer pastoral care and services to two local retirement homes and we also open up our hall facilities for groups or individuals in our local community to use eg, we have an indoor bowls and an art group.

The church community is very diverse, and holds very strongly to the gospel call to find identity and solidarity with the vulnerable, the lonely and the broken. It is a community that embraces our differences and celebrates the beautiful unity we find in Jesus Christ. Our worship style at the Sunday 10.00am service is traditional but informal and participative. We offer a variety of music, liturgy and reflective spaces within an Anglican framework.
