Motto: To be as Jesus to all.

St Peter’s Church the building, has a simple and mellow design which is described as Early English.
Spare a thought for the builders and craftsmen who laboured well over a century ago to create this excellent example of colonial architecture

Please remember that this church was designed and built on it’s original site in Wanganui’s main street Victoria Avenue-almost midway through the reign of Queen Victoria.

This building served the Parish of Wanganui as Christ Church from 1866 until 1920 when it was replaced by a new church. It was dismantled, transferred to Gonville and dedicated as St Peter’s on 19th February 1922.

St Peter’s is now the oldest public building still in use in Wanganui.

We are privileged to be one of many Local Shared Ministry Parishes throughout New Zealand.

More of a mature congregation with two services each Sunday. Every parishioner is encouraged to grow spiritually by exploring and exercising their gifts, talents and calling granted by God.
