Diploma in Anglican Studies (NZQA) The Anglican Diocese of Wellington partners with St John's Theological College, Auckland, in the local delivery of Anglican Studies Diplomas. There are two NZQA approved Diplomas; one at Level 5 and one at Level 6. St John's papers are delivered with the Diocese of Wellington so that students may gain a Diploma in two or three years. Each Diploma is equivalent to one year's fulltime study. The delivery of the Level 5 Diploma began in the Diocese in early 2013. Participants enrol in the College and the College administers the qualification delivered in the Diocese. This will become the preferred requirement for Ordination as a self-supporting Deacon or Priest in the Diocese. It will also form the basis for licensing those with Diocesan Accredited Parish Chaplain or Lay Licenses as Pastoral Carers and Preachers. It comes with a local 'Wellington flavour' of building community, learning together and spiritual formation and has the integrity of the academic programme offered at St John's College, Auckland. Take a look at what the Diploma in Anglican Studies has to offer both lay and ordained people across the Wellington Diocese in 2017
What students have said about the programme: "This way of learning has helped create family; we meet with people of like minds to explore the things that interest us." "The links between parishes across the Diocese is phenomenal." "It's taught me a lot about being Church and who we are as Anglicans." "I like thinking about whatever we're learning; it helps me keep a sharp edge to my own ministry."
Have you ever wondered about learning in a Christian community of support? This is your opportunity. Whether you are interested in gaining a level 5 NZQA qualification, or just being part of a learning community, we'd love to hear from you. Bring a friend and join in the fun together. In partnership with St John's College, this programme allows the people of our diocese to access learning that is interesting and relevant to your ministry. We support a learning environment focused on developing community and spiritual formation – with residential weekends at a marae and a contemporary monastery. Additionally, each semester, three evening tutorials are offered – based at both ends of the diocese (the Anglican Centre in Wellington and St Matthew's in Palmerston North) to make access easy.
