St David's, Naenae Says Thank You and Farewell to Reverend Lance Kevey

Last Sunday parishioners and friends gathered in St David's Naenae to say thank you and farewell to Reverend Lance Kevey who has been their Priest in Charge over the last eight years.

The congregation represented the richness and diversity of Lance's ministry. There were representatives from the Sudanese community, Samoan Methodist Church and the local Roman Catholic Parish. Also present were some of Lance's colleagues along with the Urban Dean and the Diocesan Administrator.

The service and the farewell speeches echoed the depth of appreciation that the people had for Lance's pastoral, priestly and sacramental ministry.

In acknowledging Lance's ministry much tribute was also paid to the ministry people had also received from his wife Averil as she, with Lance, loved, cared and nurtured them.

At the end of the Eucharist, after Lance had given his final blessing, as Priest in Charge, Archdeacon Bernard Faull, supported by Lance's colleagues, laid hands on and prayed for Lance and Averil as they laid down the mantle of ministry in Naenae to move forward and be open to new areas of ministry where God and the Church may be calling them.

The congregation then moved across to St David's Hall to hear further speeches and share in a feast that had been prepared.
