Ministry Group

Diocesan Councils, Boards and Committees

Following a decision of Synod in 1998 a new management structure for the Diocese was implemented whereby all Diocesan Councils, Boards and Committees had to report to either the Mission Council, the Ministry Group, or the Management Committee.

Ministry Group

The primary function of Ministry Group is to address the needs of the Diocese in respect
of licensed ministry by and for lay and ordained people.

In fulfilling its primary function, the key tasks of the Ministry Group are :

1. to develop strategies and policies for the effective selection, deployment, training, and support of licensed lay ministers and clergy, for approval by Synod
2. to determine what financial resources need to be allocated to those strategies and policies
3. to arrange the appointment of people to undertake particular projects in any area of ministry in the Diocese, and to direct, monitor and support such appointments to ensure the successful completion of the project

The Ministry Group comprises the Bishop or the Bishop’s nominee and generally seven people appointed by Synod who hold office for a term of two years.  The Ministry Group reports annually to Synod.
